embed.cam Cookie Policy

version 1.0 from 09.10.2026 enru permalink to this version

Reference translation. The binding text is the Russian version at /cookies; in case of any discrepancy the Russian text prevails.

1. In short

embed.cam uses strictly necessary cookies only — the ones without which signing in and viewing a protected link are technically impossible. There are no third-party cookies, advertising pixels or web analytics. That is also why there is no cookie consent banner: the necessary cookies are set to perform our contract with you, not to observe you.

A cookie is a small piece of text a site stores in your browser, which the browser then returns automatically to that same site. A cookie is not a program and cannot reach other data on your device.

3. The complete list of cookies embed.cam sets

| Name | Purpose | Lifetime | Category | |---|---|---|---| | embedcam_session (in secure mode __Host-embedcam_session) | proves you are signed in. Contains a signed account identifier, a session version and an expiry — no password. Without it every request, including the video stream and the WebSocket connection, would be anonymous | 12 hours | strictly necessary | | embedcam_impersonate (__Host-…) | support: set only when, following your request, a service administrator is acting on your account. Every such case is written to a log | up to 30 minutes | strictly necessary | | embedcam_oauth (__Host-…) | protects the Yandex ID / VK ID sign-in flow against tampering (the state parameter and the PKCE verifier). Set while you are redirected to the provider and removed immediately afterwards | a few minutes | strictly necessary | | ecrcpt | restricted-link access: records that you have already entered your personal access code, so you do not re-enter it on every page load. Scoped to the path of that specific link | set by the link's owner | strictly necessary | | ecembed | protects an embed link against use on unauthorised sites: records that the signed token has been verified | the embed token's lifetime | strictly necessary |

The Service sets no other cookies.

4. What is stored outside cookies

Your interface language and light/dark theme are stored in the browser's localStorage and are never sent to the server. Their only purpose is to preserve your choice across page loads. You can clear them with the site's data in your browser settings.

5. Third-party cookies

5.1. embed.cam sets no third-party cookies, analytics counters or advertising pixels.

5.2. If you sign in through Yandex ID or VK ID, you visit that provider's site, which sets its own cookies under its own documents. This happens only if you chose that sign-in method.

5.3. If you open a page on a third-party site containing an embedded embed.cam player, the cookies in the table in cl. 3 are set by the embed.cam domain. The site's own cookies are its owner's responsibility.

6. How to refuse

6.1. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies for the embed.cam domain makes signing in impossible, and restricted links will ask for the access code on every load — a consequence of what those cookies technically do, not a restriction we impose.

6.2. Viewing an ordinary public link without cookies works.

7. Changes

If the Service ever introduces cookies that are not strictly necessary (web analytics, for example), this Policy will be updated before they appear, and a consent mechanism will be implemented. The current version is always published at https://embed.cam/cookies.
